In the race for generative AI, OpenAI’s ChatGPT is one of the most popular tools for users. With its GPT model, it can generate human-like text most naturally. To get more out of ChatGPT, the company offers ChatGPT Plus, which focuses on specific tasks and has its capabilities. It uses natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithms to understand and generate responses based on the user’s prompts.
The AGL feature seems helpful, allowing students and researchers to do more and create high-quality results. It can be used for text creation, research, coding, and generating visuals that overcome limitations. However, many users complain about slow response times due to overload and issues with presets and internet connectivity. In this article, we will share some of the best ChatGPT alternatives you can try. Each has its capabilities, strengths, weaknesses, and pricing plans according to features. So without further ado, let us take a closer look at this.
What are the reasons for switching from ChatGPT?
Some of the primary reasons are that ChatGPT does not offer real-time data or up-to-date information, as it is limited to a dataset before 2021. Also, ChatGPT cannot generate AI art, have voice commands, or generate voice responses. However, it sometimes struggles with generating responses due to downtime.
Plugins or add-ons are not free to integrate ChatGPT with Gmail, Twitter, Instagram, etc., but they are available in ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20/month.
Microsoft Bing
This is the best alternative. Microsoft has been using the latest OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, and it also has a temperature setting that can be used to tweak how creative you want Microsoft Bing to be. You can choose Creative Mode, Balance, or Precise based on your intent. This is integrated into Microsoft’s Bing Search engine, allowing you to get up-to-date event information that ChatGPT cannot do. It is good at most things, including coding and math.
Microsoft Bing ChatBot also works with Microsoft Edge and Windows CoPilot and is available on mobile devices on both Android and iOS devices. It supports more than 100 languages and is also integrated into Microsoft’s other products and services, like Excel, Microsoft Teams, and other services that will be integrated for cross-platform compatibility. It can also connect to the internet and offer images and videos.
Perplexity AI
Another one of my favourite GPT alternatives, as it offers a minimalist design and offers similar questions. You can even check the sources of the information to double-check the results. It does have GPT-4 integration, which is free to use and generates five responses every four hours. To get more, you do need to purchase Premium. You can even use it for free without even having to sign in. It is an excellent alternative to ChatGPT.
Google Bard AI
Google’s take on OpenAI and Microsoft’s AI-powered search engine, Bard, was upgraded to PaLM, capable of doing everything ChatGPT can do. In my testing, I did not find it capable of handling tasks or accepting long texts. Also, it does not follow my prompts as expected, but it is fast and good at handling one task at a time fairly. Recently, the company has added the capability of doing code stuff like debugging, writing, and understanding codes.
Unlike ChatGPT, it also has a clean, sleek design that matches Google’s Material Design. Along with an exciting user interface, it has features like multiple draughts for your prompt to check the style and other things.
GitHub – CoPilot X
It is good for developers, students, and researchers who want a tool specifically for coding. It is Microsoft’s solution for programmers, bringing the capabilities of auto-completion, debugging code, and writing code with a prompt. The GPT-4 model powers GitHub CoPilot X and is compatible with popular coding environments like VS Code, Visual Studio, Neovim, and JetBrains. To make the experience more immersive, Github has also introduced Chat and Voice for CoPilot to let users enter prompts in natural language.
This is based on the OpenAI Codex and advanced NLP and machine learning to understand and analyze the code, providing real-time suggestions and predictions. Moreover, it is an excellent tool for speeding up the coding process and is commonly integrated into IDEs and editors as plugins.
Amazon CodeWhisper
Only a few people know about this, as it focuses on development tools. It assists programmers with writing, analyzing, and debugging code. Amazon Codewhisper helps by suggesting proper code through comments in an integrated development environment (IDE). It supports various languages like JavaScript, Python, C#, Java, and more.
OpenAI Playground
This is a platform where you can check out the ChatGPT model. However, it is more focused on developers, as it allows you to test apps and services. OpenAI offers a paid subscription, but the company includes some free credit, which expires after four months. After exceeding your usage, you need to purchase tokens to use them more.
There are a lot of features and things to adjust according to the user’s preferences. OpenAI develops it and is not aimed at regular users, but anyone can access it and try different AI models, presets, modes, and parameters.
Character AI
It is based on a neural language model trained on a massive dataset of various personalities, keeping the conversation in mind. You can find different characters with famous personalities like Elon Musk, Tony Stark, Socrates, Joe Biden, Kanye West, and much more. It changes the conversation style as you select a character. It even has a microphone input that allows you to talk back in a different voice.
You can even design your custom character by yourself, and it even has built-in image generation for creating avatars. Before proceeding, we would like to mention that you may find this slow compared to ChatGPT and other similar apps and services. To use it, you need to create an account.
YouChat
This is one of the first generative AI systems integrated into the You Search engine and is available for everyone to use for free, which means it has internet access. This capability allows you to have up-to-date information about events and stuff. Later, the company will have many functionalities to assist users with writing code, giving advice, explaining complex things, summarising, translating, and much more. It also has features that add more functionality, like mic input, chat sharing, or personalities.
It combines language models and search algorithms to generate accurate information. It also helps make purchase decisions and provides an intuitive way for users to interact with the internet and get the necessary information.
Quora Poe
Quora developed this platform and is a standalone platform called Poe, which stands for Platform for Open Exploration. The company has integrated several AI models, including OpenAI Models, Google’s PaLM, and others. However, it is not accessible to everyone; instead, you must enroll in a trial requiring a credit card. It has enough free credits to use, and no significant downtimes have been reported.
Despite limitations, it can be integrated with Google Docs and provide personalized feedback on writing. On top of that, it has grammar, spelling, tone, and style recommendations.
Opera Aria
It’s an in-browser platform that uses multiple AI modes, including OpenAI ChatGPT and Chatsonic, allowing users to access in-browser AI models. Chatsonic and the OpenAI GPT model are capable of summarising, creating images, and persona selection.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is one of the most advanced language models and also has third-party services that use the same AI model to offer AI capabilities in their services. So these AI models you can use as ChatGPT alternatives to perform specific tasks.
So these are the ChatGPT alternatives that you can use. Thanks for being with us. If you have any queries, share them with us in the comment section below. Stay tuned for more exciting information.
