Meta’s Muse AI agent has been one of the fastest-growing consumer AI apps ever recorded, yet almost everyone outside two countries is locked out. As of 17 October 2026, the agent is officially available in just the United States and Canada — and Meta has announced no date for anywhere else. Here is the verified country list, what the “not available” message really means, and the honest answer on when your country might get it.

Quick answer: Muse AI is only available in the US and Canada as of 17 Oct 2026. Verified country list, why the rollout is slow and what to use meanwhile.

Where is Muse AI available right now?

The official answer is short. Muse AI is available in exactly two countries: the United States and Canada. Meta describes Muse in its own announcements as “a personal AI agent available in the US and Canada” — including the Muse for Small Business announcement published on 29 September 2026 — and its help documentation says the product is “in limited testing and aren’t available in all locations yet” (Meta Muse subscriptions help page, via useCarly, 30 September 2026).

Table verified against useCarly’s availability tracker, last checked 30 September 2026. If you are outside the US and Canada and try to sign up, you will see the message: “Muse isn’t available in your country or region yet.”

The rollout has moved fast inside North America and nowhere else. Muse launched in the US on 8 September 2026 on iOS, Android and the web at muse.ai, with WhatsApp access at launch. Canada followed just ten days later, on 18 September. Since then, in nearly a month, Meta has added no third country — a deliberate pause, not an oversight.

What “not available in your country” actually means

That message is a hard block, not a waitlist. There is no official waitlist, no sign-up queue, and no country list you can check. Meta says it will notify you when Muse launches where you live, but it has published no mechanism for that notification and no dates.

It is also worth knowing what you need if you are inside a supported country: you must be 18 (or the age of majority where you live), sign in with a Meta account — which you can create with an email address or phone number, no Facebook account required — and even the free tier asks for a payment card at sign-up, since paid usage can kick in as you use more (useCarly availability guide, 30 September 2026).

For more on getting started inside a supported market, our guide to using Muse on WhatsApp walks through the no-app route.

Is Muse AI coming to India?

India is the most-asked question after the UK, and there is a genuine signal — just not a launch. In early October 2026, several people in India began seeing Muse appear inside Instagram, for example when sharing a Reel or post. Tapping it prompted them to get the Muse AI app, and following through produced the familiar message: “Muse AI is not available in your country” (Deccan Herald, 9 October 2026).

The honest reading is that Meta is surfacing the entry point in markets it is preparing for — but a prompt inside another app is not a launch. Meta has announced no India date, and until it does, the sightings tell you only that India is on the roadmap. If you need an agent today, the chat-based Meta AI inside WhatsApp and Instagram is available in India — it answers questions and creates content, but it does not carry out tasks, which is the whole point of Muse.

What about the UK, the EU, Australia — and Mexico?

The UK and the EU look like the longest waits, and the reason is regulatory rather than technical. Meta AI, the plain chat assistant, launched in the US in September 2023 and did not reach the UK and EU until March 2025 — roughly 18 months later, after negotiations with data regulators (useCarly, citing Meta’s own announcements). Muse handles far more personal data than Meta AI — email, calendars, connected accounts, payments — so the regulatory conversation for Muse in the UK, EU and similar markets is likely to be longer, not shorter.

Australia and New Zealand have no announced date either. And Mexico is the one market where confusion is common: it has appeared in a couple of Connect live blogs and press write-ups, but no Meta page lists it — treat any Mexico availability claim as unconfirmed (useCarly, 30 September 2026).

Why is the rollout so slow?

Meta is not being shy about the reason: Muse is in “limited testing.” An agent that reads your email, books on your calendar and moves money is a different risk category from a chatbot, and Meta is rolling out geography by geography while it absorbs real-world incident data — including the agent safety incidents that drew an FTC probe (covered in our Muse privacy explainer, October 2026).

There is also a demand-management angle. Muse has grown astonishingly fast: Sensor Tower data reported by Cointelegraph showed it passing 5 million downloads within about a month of launch — faster than ChatGPT, which took 56 days to reach the same milestone, Grok (103 days) and Claude (492 days) (hokanews.com, 30 September 2026). Each new country multiplies support load, safety review and infrastructure cost. A staged rollout is how Meta keeps the service from buckling under its own success.

Can you use Muse with a VPN?

The short answer is no — and it is not worth trying. Three reasons, all verified:

  1. App stores are region-locked. The Muse app is listed only in the US and Canadian storefronts, and your Apple or Google account region decides what you see. A VPN does not change your account region.
  2. It breaks Meta’s terms. Meta requires you to be physically located in a supported country, and the restriction is enforced by app-store region and Meta’s terms, not by IP address.
  3. The account at risk holds your real life. The same Meta account carries your Facebook and Instagram, and Muse would hold your email, calendar and card details. Running an agent with that much access through a terms-violating workaround is a bad trade for early access (useCarly, 30 September 2026).

Our take

The India Instagram sightings are the most interesting signal in this whole story — but signals are not launches. Meta’s pattern with the Canada launch (ten days after the US) suggests that when it does add a country, it will announce it first, not leak it through a stray button. Until Meta names your country, treat every “Muse is here” screenshot with the same standard we apply to every agent claim on this site: verified from Meta’s own pages, or it did not happen. The table above will keep this article honest; the moment Meta adds a third country, it goes in here first.

What to use while you wait

If you are outside the US and Canada and want agentic help now, the realistic options are the alternatives that work in your country today rather than a VPN workaround:

Frequently asked questions

Q: In which countries is Muse AI available?
A: Only the United States (since 8 September 2026) and Canada (since 18 September 2026), as of 17 October 2026. Meta has announced no other countries and no dates.

Q: Is Muse AI available in India?
A: No. Meta has announced no India launch date. Some Indian Instagram users saw Muse entry points in early October 2026, but tapping them leads to the “not available in your country” message.

Q: Is Muse AI available in the UK or EU?
A: No, and there is no announced date. Meta AI took about 18 months to reach the UK/EU after its US launch, and Muse’s deeper data access suggests a longer regulatory review.

Q: Can I use Muse AI with a VPN?
A: Not reliably and not within Meta’s terms. The app is region-locked in both app stores to the US and Canada, and Meta’s terms require you to be physically in a supported country.

Q: Do I need a Facebook account to use Muse?
A: No. Muse signs in with a Meta account, which you can create with an email address or phone number. You must be 18 or the age of majority in your location.

Sources and methodology

Claims in this article rest on: Meta’s Muse for Small Business announcement (about.fb.com, 29 September 2026), which describes Muse as “a personal AI agent available in the US and Canada”; useCarly’s availability tracker (last checked 30 September 2026), which cites Meta’s help pages; the Deccan Herald’s report on Muse sightings in Instagram in India (9 October 2026); and Sensor Tower download data reported by Cointelegraph via hokanews.com (30 September 2026). All availability statements were verified on 17 October 2026. Figures attributed to secondary sources are presented as reported; the Mexico claims are labelled unconfirmed because no Meta page lists it.
